On Tuesday 8th October, Katie-Lou, Lee, and Kay attended the Music Venue Trust’s (MVT) Venues Day 2024 down in London, where they had the chance to connect with other venues from across the country, as well as the MVT themselves.
The Music Venue Trust awarded the community with the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ presented by BBC Radio 6 DJ and champion of the grassroots music scene, Steve Lamacq.
Music Venue Trust is a UK Registered Charity which acts to protect, secure and improve UK Grassroots Music Venues (GMV) for the benefit of venues, communities and upcoming artists.
Our Venue Manager, Katie-Lou Green was also there to lead several workshops on Docks’ approach to ethical practices and societal responsibilities, representing Docks Academy along with seven other UK venues.
In recent news, they’ve partnered up with Coldplay, who will be donating 10% of the band’s, the promoters’, venues’, as well as the booking and ticket agents’ proceeds for their upcoming dates in London and Hull in 2025 to the MVT, who will use this money to support GMV’s. You can learn more about this in the MVT’s Blog
The MVT is making a real difference and flying the flag for Grassroots music in the UK, providing a much-needed support net to allow future generations of artists to come up the ranks!
