Comedy fans - this is your perfect Christmas night out! The Red Herring Comedy Club is returning to Docks Academy on Saturday 11th December and on the bill is Dave Longley, Rachel Jackson, Micky P Kerr and Tudur Owen.
Rachel Jackson is an award-winning Scottish actress, comedian and writer who’s performed everywhere from the UK to Berlin, Beijing, NYC, Tokyo and LA. She won The Herald Scottish Culture Award ‘One to Watch’ prize and was nominated as best comedian for The Spotlight Prize, The Scottish Variety Awards and The Scottish Comedy Awards. Rachel also starred in the films 'Beats' and ‘The Party's Just Beginning' (which was nominated for best film at The Scottish Baftas and her TV credits include 'Outlander', ‘Still Game’, ‘Two Doors Down' and ‘Scot Squad’. She’s written and performed sketches for TV and her show ‘Bunny Boiler’ was turned into a 6-part mini series for BBC Three.
Also on the bill is 2018 Britain’s Got Talent Finalist, Micky P Kerr. He’s a Leeds-based comedian who brings a superb edge to the comedy circuit; combining music, spoken word, comedy and catchy songs. Kerr was once described as “the bastard spawn of John Cooper Clarke”. His song ‘Bag for Life’ was a favourite but also managed to baffle Simon Cowell in this year’s BGT final! Last year he took his solo show ‘Lay –Z’ to the Edinburgh Festival receiving huge acclaim. In 2016 Mickey was also a runner-up in the national musical comedy awards and reached the semi-finals of both the So You Think You’re Funny and the BBC New Act competitions.
Completing the line-up is Welsh comic Tudur Owen. He’s a bilingual comedy writer and performer who only started performing in English in 2007. Since then he’s been a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Tudur is a household name in Wales, due to his regular appearances on TV and Radio. Last year he was awarded ‘Best Radio Presenter’ at the 2020 Celtic Media Film and TV Awards.
