September’s Red Herring Comedy Club headliner is Phil Ellis, an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. Phil solidified his reputation in 2014 with his undisputed anarchic sleeper hit of a show Funz and Gamez, which won Phil the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize. Funz and Gamez would later be broadcast as part of BBC Radio 4’s Fresh from the Fest, as well as part of BBC Comedy Feeds (BBC Three). The show would later go on to have an 18-show run at the Soho theatre, alongside slots at all the major comedy festivals.
Kate Martin is an up and coming stand-up comedian who was made in the South but born in the North. Kate's experience in mental health gives fuel to her confident, high energy storytelling, which she combines with razor-sharp observations of life's quirks through queer eyes.
"Effortlessly funny - easily one of the best new acts on the circuit - book her, she's damn funny!".
Harry Stachini is a comedian that is slowly but surely climbing up the ranks of the stand-up comedy world. Harry has established a reputation as an exciting young comedian with an impressive easy-going style. His warm and friendly stage presence comfortably leads us through hilarious and skilful storytelling which is beyond his years.
MC-ing on the night is Dave Longley, whose towering stage presence and intensity, combined with his cutting wit has made him one of the most popular and controversial circuit comics in the UK. Whether it’s doling out thought-provoking insights or revelling in toilet humour, he is a gifted wordsmith with great audience interaction skills. David’s work spans a variety of genres, and his current work on sitcom, drama and documentary script ideas has seen him write and perform four full-length festival solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has also writing credits for 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4) each one greeted with critical acclaim.
