The Chameleons bring Arctic Moon to Docks Academy this August

Grimsby - 1x1 - announcement

Following the release of their long-awaited fifth studio album Arctic Moon, The Chameleons head to Grimsby for a rare live show at Docks Academy on Friday 14th August.

Formed in the early 80s and first championed by John Peel, The Chameleons quickly built a reputation for their distinctive sound. Blending atmospheric, delay-soaked guitars with driving rhythms and introspective lyricism, they became one of the most influential bands to emerge from the post-punk era.

Their run of releases in the 1980s still carries serious weight today. Script of the Bridge, What Does Anything Mean? Basically! and Strange Times are widely regarded as landmark records, shaping the sound of everything from indie to shoegaze in the years that followed.

Despite disbanding in 1987, the band’s following never faded. They reformed in 2000, toured extensively, and after another hiatus, returned again in 2021 with founding members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies at the helm, joined by a new lineup that has helped push the band forward while staying true to their roots.

Their latest album Arctic Moon marks a new chapter. It’s their first full studio release in years, bringing fresh material into a catalogue that already spans decades. Expect a set that moves between the new record and the songs that built their reputation, delivered with the same intensity they’ve always been known for.

Over the years, The Chameleons have shared stages with the likes of U2, The Cure and Bauhaus, earning a loyal global following and a reputation as a band best experienced live.
