On Saturday 7 November, we welcome Nirvana Tribute to Docks Academy for a full evening dedicated to one of the most influential bands of the last 40 years.
Few bands have left a mark on music quite like Nirvana. From the raw impact of Bleach to the generation-defining success of Nevermind and the darker edge of In Utero, their music still feels as powerful now as it did in the early 1990s. More than three decades on from the release of Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana’s songs continue to find new audiences while remaining deeply personal to the fans who grew up with them.
This internationally touring tribute show has built a reputation for recreating the sound, atmosphere and intensity of a real Nirvana performance, earning praise from audiences across North America, Europe and Asia.
Fronted by Jon O’Connor in the role of Kurt Cobain, the band focuses on authenticity rather than imitation for the sake of it, capturing the energy and emotion that made Nirvana’s live shows so unforgettable. Their attention to detail has even received recognition from Nirvana’s original drummer Aaron Burckhard, who described them as “the closest to the real thing”.
Expect a set packed with the songs that defined an era, including Come As You Are, Lithium, Heart-Shaped Box and, of course, Smells Like Teen Spirit.
