Friday 19th June brings a proper double bill of British indie to Docks Academy, as The Richard Ashcroft Experience and Belter take over for a night built around big choruses, hands-in-the-air moments and songs everyone knows word for word.
At the centre of it is the music of Richard Ashcroft. Expect the full Verve-era sweep alongside his solo catalogue, from the strings of Bittersweet Symphony to the quieter pull of The Drugs Don’t Work. It is that mix of scale and emotion that made those records stick, and this show leans right into it.
Backing that up is Belter, a tribute to Gerry Cinnamon. If you’ve seen what his crowds are like, you’ll know what’s coming. Big acoustic energy, relentless singalongs and tracks like Belter and Sometimes that turn any room into a chorus.
This is one of those nights where the setlist does most of the work. No filler, just songs that defined a certain era of British indie, played loud with a room full of people who already know every line.
