The Wedding Present are coming to Docks Academy on Thursday, 1st October 2026.
Formed in Leeds in 1985, The Wedding Present have spent nearly four decades building one of the most distinctive catalogues in British alternative music. Led by David Gedge, the band became known for combining fast, wiry guitars with sharply observed songwriting, earning a loyal following that has lasted generation after generation.
From landmark releases like George Best, Bizarro and Seamonsters through to later records including Take Fountain and Going, Going…, The Wedding Present have remained a constantly evolving band while still sounding unmistakably like themselves.
Influenced by the directness of punk and the melodic edge of bands like Buzzcocks and The Fall, The Wedding Present helped shape the UK indie landscape while avoiding the clichés that came with it. Their live shows continue to be celebrated for their intensity, volume and emotional weight, with sets that move effortlessly between fan favourites and deeper cuts from across their career.
The band arrive in Grimsby this autumn for what promises to be a huge night for indie fans at Docks Academy.
