A Guide to Running Times

When booking a ticket to visit a Docks Academy event, information will be provided to show a Doors Open time and an Event Start time. For all events that are a traditionally seated show such as Theatrical Shows, Touring Comedy, Red Herring Comedy Club and other alternative events, Event Start time is true to their word. For all events that are standing, show start times are a guide. Docks Academy are unable to share running times online, as they differ from event to event, we do not receive them until close to the event itself or there are last minute changes on the day. We also like to encourage all ticket holders to arrive in good time to support grassroots musicians we have at Docks Academy.

If you require clarity on running times for any event, please do not hesitate to contact tickets@docksacademy.com to ensure you are able to plan your journey accordingly.

Docks Academy has a wheelchair-accessible lift which provides access to the first floor. We are committed to making the venue accessible to everyone and we endeavour to accommodate all access requirements within the constraints of our historic building, and health and safety regulations. Please do contact us prior to your visit so we are aware of your access needs. Email tickets@docksacademy.com or phone 07733 244110

What happens if I arrive late?

We ask customers to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the event start time. If you arrive late, you may not be allowed to be admitted at artists discretion.

What will happen in bad weather?

The team will endeavour to ensure the most timely process of scanning tickets and permitting you entrance to the venue. All safety guidelines must be followed, so we suggest wearing appropriate outer-wear, should the weather be bad and you find yourself in a queue. We thank you for your forbearance and cooperation with this.

Is the show seated, standing or around tables?

Each event on the website will explain whether it is seated (Traditional theatre style), standing (No seats will be available) or tables (Informal events such as Docktoberfest and Christmas).

Can my band play at Docks Academy?

We do get hundreds of enquiries each month about playing Docks Academy. We don’t just stage music events, but also live comedy, dance, theatre and community events so there is a lot of competition for spots in our programme and we can only accommodate a few enquiries each year.

One thing we do ask of all potential bands/artists is that they fill in this form which will add you to our database of artists. We do require this to be done if you wish to be considered.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Docks Academy is proud to operate a Zero Tolerance Policy. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space in which everyone can enjoy their time at the venue. Anyone displaying illegal or inappropriate behaviours will be asked to leave the premises.

From April 1st 2023, a restoration levy of £1.00 per ticket will be included in the booking fee. This is a contribution to the venue’s refurbishment, improvement and upkeep. Docks Academy is a heritage building of historic interest with high maintenance and repair costs. This levy helps maintain and improve the building for the benefit of those who visit the venue.

It will ensure Docks Academy remains at the forefront of Grimsby’s visitor economy for many years to come. We will be transparent and ensure every penny of the restoration fee is spent wisely. We thank you in advance for paying it.
