Heiliger Strohsack! (Holy Cow!) Docketberfest is back!

The long-awaited return of Grimsby’s take on the annual German festival ‘Docktoberfest’ returns this Autumn. Get ready to raise those Steins again and party like it’s Munchen 1999! There will be spectacular live music from three bands each night – including Yorkshire Oopah Band (30.09.2022), Blue Barons Oompah Band (01.10.22 & 02.10.2022), Scribble Victory and The Wingmen. We can promise the return of ‘Docktoberbier’, our very own Hefeweizen – a traditional Bavarian beer – plus a host of other German beers and all of your usual Docks favourites as well.

Tickets are now on sale priced at £11, plus See Tickets commission. The age requirement for this event is 18 plus. Please note, that tables for Docktoberfest are not bookable and your ticket price does not guarantee you a seat.

Red Herring Comedy Club returns for July, as four new comedians will take to the stage. July’s headliner Ignacio Lopez, has headlined top comedy clubs up and down the U.K. and Europe, and writes sketches, sitcoms, and viral tweets.
Emerging comedian, actor and writer, Kuan-wen Huang, is beginning to have major breakthroughs on the UK circuit in the last two years.
Steve Hall is a stand-up comedian and writer who is a regular writer on ‘The Russell Howard Hour’, and has supported Russell on his ‘Round the World’ international tour.
Mc-ing on the night is James Cook, a Birmingham-based comedian with over 1,000 gigs worth of experience. He has also performed multiple shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Tickets are now on sale priced at £14.50 (when purchased in advance) or £16 on the door. Please note, this is the last RHCC until September so act now to secure your ticket!

sick joy | 29.07.22

Docks Academy is pleased to be hosting Brighton based noise-pop band ‘Sick Joy’, to Grimsby as part of The National Lottery’s Revive Live Tour, in association with the Music Venue Trust.

This event follows the success of Red Rum Club in January, which was part of the Revive Live initiative. This three-piece, comprised of Mykl Barton (guitar/vocals), Drew Michael (drums) and Danny Piston (bass) fuse malign heaviness with acidic melody then tying into place with the reigns of contagious pop.

Tickets are £8 + booking fee and are sold on a buy one get one free basis through Ticketweb below.

propaganda | 30.07.22

Lovers of alternative music listen up! Propaganda – the UK’s biggest indie music club night returns to Docks Academy.

Expect a mix of every indie singalong anthem you can think of, from the genre’s best-known and loved artists including Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys and The 1975, plus many more.

Indie not your thing? There will also be plenty of mid 2000’s pop-punk and emo bangers from the scenes icons.

Tickets are £5 plus See Tickets booking fee. This event is strictly for 18s and over.

errol linton | 25.08.22

Errol Linton has been playing the Brixton Blues for nearly thirty years. He has his own take on the genre, playing reggae-inflected electric blues free of histrionic soloing. It is now widely thought he leads the best blues band in Britain. In the words of the late John Walters (the late John Peel’s celebrated producer) “Errol is as good a Harmonica player as anyone can reasonably hope to become, he is the real deal.” He has been featured on radio and TV and his two albums have become British blues milestones, regularly spun on the radio by Andy Kershaw and Paul Jones, and his band was rated by the late Charlie Gillett as one of the UK’s greatest live bands.

Tickets are now on sale priced at £17.50, plus See Tickets commission. The age requirement for this event is 14 plus. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
