Errol Linton and his band have been rated by the late Charlie Gillett as one of the UK’s greatest live bands. His outstanding 2021 gig at Docks Academy was described by many who attended as one of the best blues gigs they have ever seen. And in the words of the late John Walters “Errol is as good a Harmonica player as anyone can reasonably hope to become, he is the real Deal.” Of his music Devizine.com says “This is British Blues at its finest.” So we’re thrilled that Errol Linton is headlining again, alongside his full band.

Hard as it is to believe but Errol Linton has been playing the Brixton blues for nearly thirty years. Initially a busker on London streets and the London Underground, Errol was noticed early on by John Walters – John Peel’s celebrated producer – who filmed Errol in 1990 for a BBC documentary. But even during that era of mega-CD sales, no record label dared take a chance on the Lambeth youth who sounded like no one else.

Linton has his own take on the genre, playing reggae-inflected electric blues free of histrionic soloing. His music is warm, loose and very Caribbean – think how the mighty Mississippi river flows into the Gulf Of Mexico just as the music from Texas to New Orleans filtered through to Jamaica via radio stations and sound systems.

Errol was one of the first acts to perform on the Docks Academy stage after the long Covid hiatus for live music and we’re looking forward to another stellar night of British blues at the Church!

He will be joined on the bill by a warm-up act who will be confirmed closer to the gig.

Tickets are now on sale priced at £17.50 when purchased in advance, plus See Tickets commission. The age requirement for this event is 14 plus. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

In this event you will be able to claim a refund from Seetickets so long as the reason for your cancellation is covered by the policy (please check the small print). Docks Academy is unable to process refunds in all circumstances. Please note, this event is for people aged 14 and over. Anyone aged under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No refunds will be issued for tickets purchased for under 14s whether or not ticket protection has been paid for.

We are sorry to report that, due to Covid19's significant impact on our business, we are still not yet wheelchair accessible. Currently, the only way of entering the Docks Academy is via a flight of stairs. We aim to have a lift installed by the end of 2022. Rest assured wheelchair access remains our highest priority.
