Grassroots music and the local music community is something Docks Academy is committed to supporting and cultivating. We’re proud to bring you Fresh Catch. Each show will be dedicated to a triple bill of new, independent artists - starting on Saturday 25th February with three great bands from the Humber region and beyond. Headlined by Mint, with support from The Colliers and The Blighters.

Fresh Catch is all about giving people the opportunity to hear new artists when they’re starting out, or to catch a band from another part of the country that is on the up. It’s an awesome feeling to stand back knowing you’ve been there from their first shows and witnessed their growth into a recognised talent in the music industry.

We want this night to be a stepping stone in the progression of young musicians’ careers and help inspire the next generation of music makers. Get down to Docks Academy to Fresh Catch and hear what might become your next favourite new band!

Mint is a loud and energetic cocktail made from parts of Iggy Pop and The Hives. Hailing from Grimsby Town, Mint can be described as the erratic and gut-busting Rock’n’Roll that your father smokes cigars to. With a Live Lounge under their belt, they are also heavily championed by Radio 1, Kerrang!, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Channel 4 and ITV This Morning.

The Colliers are an Indie-punk band from Leeds. Having begun their journey as a four-piece, they have been performing around Yorkshire city. Fresh Catch will see the band out of their usual stomping grounds, and bringing their sound to a wider audience.

The Blighters are a 5-piece rock and roll band from Grimsby who has received airplay on BBC Radio Humberside Introducing and have performed gigs around the local area, including a headline slot at Donington On Bains' Sausage and Cider Festival.
