Local music students from the Grimsby Institute for Higher Education takeover Docks Academy on Thursday 18th April to showcase their bands in a live setting.

Supporting the next generation of musical talent, Docks Academy will be ‘taken over’ by students of the Grimsby Institute for a one-off event which gives a platform to the students and allows them to perform in an established venue.

At this free event, which is open to all, the students will perform in front of a crowd and gain essential stage experience. The evening will feature six bands of various styles and genres, and music will range from covers of popular rock and indie tracks to the students’ original music.

Docks Academy is delighted to be supporting the young music students of GIFHE and hopes our regular gig-goers will support this night of emerging North East Lincolnshire talent.

Matt Timms & Lacey Bird

London-born DJ – Matt Timms has been spinning electronic music spanning over three decades nationally and internationally, in nightclubs and on the airwave of radio stations around the world.

Matt’s music collection goes as far back as 1989 to the present day which gives him an unprecedented amount of experience of how to read an audience and get people moving.

Hi, I’m Lacey “Quizity” Bird and I am a DJ specialising in the hardcore genre. I like to use my music to express myself and to try and promote the dying sound of hardcore. I hope you enjoy!

The Flying Pirates is a band that consists of Harry, Lacey, Frank and Zack, all Level 3 music students from Grimsby Institute. As a band, we play a variety of genres from pop to rock. We hope you will enjoy it.

We are ‘Pluto’s Still a Planet’, 4 young musical artists that don’t fit in, just like Pluto. The band consists of 4 students from Level 3 music: Kane (guitarist), Jodie (vocalist), Max (keys) and Tommy (guitarist/drummer). Nothing we do is ordinary, nor does it make sense.

Londski

An up-and-coming freestyle rapper with catchy bars and smart wordplay. This is one to listen out for!

We are Leviathan. A metal style 4-piece band who vary from rock and metal. The band consists of Scott (guitarist), Connor (guitarist 2), Ollie (drummer), Jake (vocals + bass).

We are ‘Blurred’, a mixture of 1st year Level 4’s and 5’s who have come together as a group to combine our experience and bring a varied sound to the table. Each member differs in style and interests. One thing we all share is the chemistry, which makes our music sound the best it possibly can! We enjoy playing a range of songs to cater to every audience and show our individual talents.

We are Dreamscape, a diverse group of multi-instrumentalists in our final year of study on Level 3 music. The theme for our final major project is ‘Through the Decades’ which see us covering songs from the 1960s to present day exploring a range of genres from pop and rock to metal and rap.

This is a free ticketed event. The age requirement for this event is 14 plus. Any under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Docks Academy is unable to process refunds in all circumstances. Please note, this event is for people aged 14 and over. People aged between 14 to 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
