After a seven year hiatus, the local musical heroes are returning to play a special hometown show on the Docks Academy stage on Friday 15th and now Saturday 16th April. Renowned for their incendiary live performances and their avid following in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, the band is helping re-ignite the live music scene post-pandemic, rekindling their halcyon days of the late 00s and early 10s, when crowds packed into sweat-drenched venues to experience the communal chaos of the band’s self-styled council pop.
With three studio albums released between 2008-2015, several appearances at Glastonbury festival and support from BBC6Music, XFm and the NME amongst others, Orphan Boy were a band forever on the cusp of bigger things. What remains now is their legacy as one of Grimsby’s greatest bands and a back catalogue of special songs beloved by their fanbase. Taking in a wide range of influences, from Gang of Four to LCD Soundsystem via Pulp and the Libertines, Orphan Boy promise an exhilarating set of local anthems that offer fans the perfect outlet for the last two years of lockdown frustration.
If there was one band that Docks Academy was made for it’s Orphan Boy. This town knows…
The band will now also headline the Docks Academy on Saturday 16th April. Support from DJ Guy Keeble. 18+ only. Tickets are now on sale at £13.60 plus booking fee.
We are sorry to report that, due to Covid19's significant impact on our business, we are still not yet wheelchair accessible. Currently, the only way of entering the Docks Academy is via a flight of stairs. However, our mid term plans include a wheelchair accessible lift coming up to a new external balcony which will have level access to the venue, funding allowing. Please rest assured wheelchair access remains our highest priority and as soon as we have reopened with our non socially distanced programme we will look at this in earnest. We are grateful for your forbearance.
