One of Grimsby’s favourite bands of the noughties will be reuniting for the first time in a decade to headline Docks Academy on Saturday 26th November 2022.
The Grimsby four-piece who were on the Distiller Records label and were on the verge of becoming one of the biggest UK guitar bands just before the rapid decline of the genre 10 years ago. They first burst onto the scene in 2007 with their debut single ‘Inspired By’ which reached number 2 in the UK Indie Chart and was championed by the likes of Zane Lowe, Colin Murrary and Steve Lamacq. The same year, the band won Channel 4’s ‘Road to V’ competition and played at the launch party of ‘Virgin 1’, Richard Branson’s television project, appearing higher on the bill than The Enemy. Whilst they were recording their debut album with Feeder’s producer Matt Sime, the band have been open about their struggles with mental health and cited that as the reason behind their break up in late 2008.
Fast forward 12 years and during lockdown the band released their previously unfinished album and now Leon, Fev, Luke and Bucko are returning for a special, one off, reunion show at Docks Academy in November. Expect to hear tunes “Inspired By”, ‘Another Night”, “3” and all their other hits as we relive the explosive melodic rock sound of The Brightlights, like it’s 15 years ago at a sweaty Friday night gig upstairs in the Matrix!
