Our monthly comedy show, Red Herring Comedy Club is back for 2025! In this blog you’ll find out more about each night and their lineups. We’ve got a great mix of Comics, including Gary Delaney (who’s last tour sold out 3 nights here at Docks Academy!), Scott Bennett (His upcoming show with us sold out in under an hour!), as well as Local lad and legend Lloyd Griffith… As well as a stacked lineup of ace comics who are regulars on the circuit.

Adam Flood has appeared on ITV’s Stand Up Sketch Show and can be heard performing on BBC Radio 4’s comedy series of DMs Are Open. As an actor, he has performed in The Lunch That Called a Critic, which you can listen to on Spotify or Apple Books.

In 2022 he won Bath Festival New Act of the Year, was a finalist in the NATYs and was runner-up in Leicester Square Sketch Off with his sketch duo Dregs. That same year, Adam’s 45-minute work in progress was a breakout success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Selling over 1,000 tickets, ‘Adam Flood: Clayhead’ was nominated for Most Outstanding Show in the Amused Moose Comedy Awards and best poster in the Comedy Poster Awards, all setting him up for his exciting debut hour, ‘Adam Flood: Remoulded’ in 2023. Adam was picked by The Times as one of the rising stars of the 2023 Fringe.

Since starting, Salisbury’s Sean Gorman, now based in London, has quickly proven to have a bright future in stand up. Displaying the stage presence of a more seasoned comedian, his deadpan delivery and self-deprecating humour has the audience hanging on every word.

Sean can be seen performing at some of the best and most famous comedy clubs on the UK circuit, including The Comedy Store, Downstairs At The Kings Head and The Stand Up Club, as well as many other clubs across the UK and Europe.

Matt Richardson is a multi-award winning stand-up comedian and one of the most exciting names on the circuit currently rising through the ranks. Having started stand-up in 2009 at 18 years old, Matt became one of the youngest comedians on the circuit and soon made it through to the finals of two national stand-up competitions – the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny and the Chortle Student Comedy Award – as well as coming runner up in the Reading Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and winning the Newbury and Bath Comedy Festival new act competitions ‘ – all while still in his teens.

Since then Matt has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s most exciting young performers and presenters – hosting the drive-time show on Virgin Radio. His TV credits include co-hosting the Xtra Factor alongside Caroline Flack, Co-Hosting Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live! Alongside Christine Lampard and helming the live spin off show alone, two one-off documentaries for ITV2 – Pampered Pooches, Hollywood and Meet The Family Guys, a series regular role on Viral Tap (ITV2), Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Celebrity Juice, Sweat The Small Stuff, Big Brothers Bit on the Side, Fake Reaction, Its Not Me It’s You, I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of here Now! and countless other shows.

Sam Serrano is a gender fluid, dyspraxic comedian who has been taking the circuit by storm.

A regular in clubs across the UK Sam’s unique trademark style that is dark and self deprecating in equal measure has seen him become a favourite with bookers. It has also seen Sam provide tour support for Brennan Reece and perform an incredible five solo hour shows at Hot Water Comedy Club, Nottingham Comedy Festival & Leicester Comedy Festival.

Nina Gilligan is sometimes outrageous, always hilarious with a charming, loveable persona which belies an acerbic wit.
Nina is a skilled writer, creator and improviser and has written several comedy shows and plays including ‘Rescued’ Nominated for Best Comedy at Greater Manchester Fringe and ‘Broad Shoulders’ receiving 5-star reviews at the 2019 Edinburgh Festival.

She trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) she received the award for best actor in her final year.

Andrew White has been described by Joe Lycett as “very exciting and very funny” and by teachers as “a pleasure to teach” (gay).

 An in demand live act, Andrew works for some of the best comedy promoters and festivals in the country (Glee, Komedia, The Comedy Store Roadshow, Latitude, Standon Calling, The Boat Show, Forge Comedy Club, etc), and is a popular choice for tour support having opened for top acts like Catherine Bohart, Helen Bauer, Troy Hawke & Kiri Pritchard-McLean.

Instantly likeable, Catherine Young is here to bring you joy! Winner of the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2019, Catherine is quickly making a name for herself as one of the most exciting new acts to come out of the North-East in recent years. From Irish decent, Catherine is a warm, yet fearless, electric act. Her comedy is light-hearted, full of mischievous stories and friendly humour, with the perfect mix of energy, punchlines and emotion. After a career in mental health, and as a singer in the working men’s clubs, connecting with people is at the heart of who she really is.

In 2023, Scott Bennett recorded his first Radio 4 special “Stuff” for BBC Radio 4 and in the same year he supported Mickey Flanagan on tour including a 10,000 seat arena show in Nottingham.

In 2021 he recorded his debut for Live at the Apollo BBC1. You will have heard him as a regular guest on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican. He also appeared on The Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith, and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer. In 2018, he also featured on the BBC One show, Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.

During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live.

Since starting comedy in 2017, Liverpool comedian and MC for the evening Dean Coughlin has performed all over the UK including Edinburgh, and overseas in Australia and New Zealand.

He regularly performs in the UK’s most renowned clubs and has opened for Adam Rowe on his tour in 2020 and will also be supporting Danny McLoughlin on tour in 2022.

Keep an eye out for this hilarious up and coming comedian…he was born with funny bones!

Gary Delaney is an award-winning stand-up comedian. His last tour ran for two and a half years and 378 shows. (With 3 sold out nights here at Docks!)

His ‘nine minutes of one-liners’ on Live at the Apollo has been viewed over sixty million times online. He was a regular on Mock the Week and has written for many tv programmes and other comedians. He’s often described as the most quoted comedian in the country. He’s also rather rude.

Al Stevenson is the sharp-witted lad from Newcastle, with “bulletproof confidence”, his charm and “magnetic aura” allows him to tear through an audience with a cheeky grin. His “relentlessly hilarious” performances of his “punchy gags and witty stories” have seen him go all the way to the Beat The Frog World Series Finals, be tour support for Mark Nelson, Kevin James Thornton and many more, and sellout the prestigious Stand Comedy Club with his debut solo show!
