April gets going in a big way as EMF land at Docks Academy on Thursday 2 April, with support from Scant Regard.
Best known for the era-defining hit Unbelievable, EMF were one of the standout British bands of the early 90s, mixing dance, rock and alternative influences into a sound that still hits just as hard. Formed in 1989, the original line-up built a huge following on both sides of the Atlantic, with Schubert Dip going platinum in the US and further hits including I Believe, Children and Lies.
They’ve continued to return to stages over the years, and this Grimsby date is a chance to catch a band whose songs still know exactly how to fill a room.
On Friday 3 April, we welcome The Moggies to Docks Academy, for a fundraiser show in support of our Charity of the Year, Jerry Green Dog Rescue.
The Moggies will be bringing a full night of 60s favourites, with songs by The Beatles, Small Faces, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Searchers and CCR. It’s one for anyone who loves the classics and fancies a proper night out with a bit of purpose behind it too.
All profits from the face value of each ticket will be donated to Jerry Green, so every ticket sold helps support the charity’s work while giving you an excuse to spend the evening on the dancefloor. Buy your tickets now.
We’ve got a daytime one for families on Thursday 9 April as the Docks Day Disco Egg-stravaganza takes over the venue.
This Easter holiday special is all about giving the kids a chance to burn off some energy, with party tunes, games and plenty of room to dance while parents can grab a seat and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s a relaxed daytime event with tables at the back, and Docks Kitchen will be open too if you want food while you’re here.
If you’re looking for something to do over the school break, this one should do the job nicely. Buy tickets for you and your kids here.
On Friday 10 April, The 9075 return to Docks Academy with support from Elson.

Their live set pulls together the songs, energy and atmosphere that fans know so well, making it a big night for anyone who has had The 1975 on repeat over the years.

We round off the month a little differently on Sunday 26 April with the very first Docks Academy Wedding Fair.
Following a run of brilliant weddings at the venue, we’re opening our doors for a free afternoon event where couples can explore the space, meet local suppliers and get a feel for how the Academy looks set up for a wedding day. The venue will be styled throughout, with inspiration across the building and a chance to speak to our team about packages, availability and ideas.
We’ll also be showcasing personalised wedding cans, custom drinks options, and around 10 trusted local suppliers including photographers, florists and DJs. If you’re planning a wedding and want a venue with real character, this is a good chance to come and see what Docks Academy can do.
