Hypnotist Robert Temple returns to Docks Academy following his sold-out performance back in 2023, with his show “The Hypnotist: Red Raw”, on Saturday 16th March!

“The Hypnotist: Red Raw” is back by popular demand, where volunteers from the audience unlock their imaginations and create a once-in-a-lifetime show of improvised comedy under the influence of hypnosis – live on stage.

It’s the perfect night out whether you watch from the audience or you choose to participate as a star of the show, this is a night out not to be missed.

Wendy Kirkland Docks Academy Update 2024 March

Wendy Kirkland Trio | 17.03.24

East Marsh United and Docks Academy presents Jazz pianist and vocalist Wendy Kirkland and her Trio on Sunday 17th March.

UK-born and bred Wendy Kirkland is a world-class jazz pianist and vocalist whose debut album ‘Piano Divas’ made such an impact when it was released in March 2017 that it was immediately snapped up for distribution by Discovery Records and made the Album of the Week slot twice in one year on The Jazz UK radio, shortly followed by overwhelming critical acclaim from the national mainstream and jazz press. More airplay of the album followed on BBC Radio 2 and 3, JazzFM and BBC Radio Scotland and Ulster.

Her latest show, Blossom Time, is a project based around Blossom Dearie, to whom her voice has been likened, and will feature songs written by Blossom, Dave Frishberg, Bob Dorough and Johnny Mandel, with whom she frequently collaborated.

East Marsh United is delighted to be working in partnership with Docks Academy to bring the best in British Jazz to the area. EMU secured funding from Arts Council England to deliver a grassroots music programme for the next two years. As well as bringing a number of excellent performers to the area, the project will offer young people opportunities to rehearse and record their own music, put on their own live events and have mentoring and support from local professional musicians.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard Docks Academy March 2024

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard | 24.03.24

Rock band Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard brings their fast-paced energetic sound to Grimsby on Sunday 24th March, with support from Grimsby’s Last of the Wonder Kids.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard’s new music takes the fast-paced energy from the band’s debut Non-Stop EP and twists it with a heavier guitar sound which stems from Tom’s teen obsessions with Black Sabbath and The White Stripes.

Speaking about both the tour and the new music, Tom says “Playing new songs is always exciting but these ones are so heavy and loud and relentless that playing them live is like drinking adrenochrome or something it’s why I live I’m very excited”.

Bouncing between post-punk and alternative indie rock, Grimsby’s Last of the Wonder Kids mix fuzzy melodies, surf breaks and infectious hooks to paint an often chaotic picture of life and love in their small Northern town.
